Improving Assessment of Subjective Memory Impairment for Detecting Alzheimer’s Disease
The Daily Memory Lapses project examines different types of memory problems, such as where you placed your keys or why you entered a room, to see how often they occur and whether they have an impact on your day. Our goal is to determine whether certain types of problems are the better predictors of future cognitive problems. Specifically, we are interested in whether the type, frequency, or impact of daily memory problems is a better indicator of future cognitive decline and if the characteristics of memory problems that predict cognitive decline depend on age or sex. We hope this work will inform clinical assessments of memory problems to help identify those older adults who are at greatest risk for future problems.
