Celebrating the Promotion of Dr. Nikki Hill!
Dr. Nikki Hill, co-director of the ReMind Lab, was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Nursing in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at Penn State. Dr. Hill’s research focuses on identifying older adults at risk for cognitive impairment and tailoring interventions to maximize their daily functional abilities and well-being. From starting as a research assistant at Penn State in 2005 to now having over 50+ publications and an R01 grant, Dr. Hill has accomplished quite a lot in her time here at Penn State.
Dr. Hill is in the last year of her R01 grant funded by the National Institute on Aging titled, “Alzheimer’s disease risk factors as mediators of subjective memory impairment and objective memory decline: A construct-level replication across four studies.” The focus of this grant has been to understand why some older adults who have self-identified memory problems are at greater risk for memory decline, with the ultimate goal of intervention development to promote health and well-being. Dr. Hill is also a Co-Investigator on Dr. Jacquie Mogle’s R01 grant that examines daily memory problems as a predictor of early cognitive decline.
Dr. Hill was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN)! Fellows of the AAN join a body of exemplary nurse leaders, and are elected to membership in the Academy based on their contributions to the nursing profession and healthcare. Dr. Hill also received the Carol A. Nese Early Career Professorship. This is a new award which provides recognition and support for exceptional faculty members who are early in their career, and who have been involved in the translation of nursing science with the ultimate goal of improving the care of older adults.
Congratulations Dr. Hill! It’s been quite an amazing year for you, and the ReMind Lab team is very proud of you!
